17th century housing., really nice.

It's very rare that I rate 10/10, but this place was a gem! Beautiful location, a pool, spacious and nice and well equipped house. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds. Friendly and helpful staff. We were upgraded from a double to two singles at no extra cost, which was a very nice bonus!

We were made very welcome by Rita and staff who were noavailable to help if needed. The room was pleasant plus a balcony with table and chairs. The bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast had a variety of food and drink choices. The surroundings are very rural and beautifully rustic. The swimming pool was much appreciated as the temperature was in the 30's. All in all it was a very good place to chill out.

Wonderful location, room and breakfast! Host was friendly and we had a lovely stay!

Calm, serene, beautiful location with amazing history. We came at the beginning of offseason and had the full pool for ourselves for the whole day. Rita is very helpful, polite and nice. The city of Amarante is just a small car ride away (stores, restaurants, affordable prices). The walls are nice and thick, couldn’t hear neighbors much. Bathroom is spacious and beds big.

“Peaceful retreat, beautiful views”

Beautiful retreat in an idyllic setting with views over a valley, surrounded by vineyards and forest. It was such a lovely getaway, and Rita was an amazing host - our room was delightful and had everything we needed, her breakfast and coffee was lovely, and the history of the 17th century property was a really special addition to the stay. It was a great base to explore Amarante and the Douro Valley if you are driving. Parking was super easy, and the driveway into the property is all paved so it was a straightforward drive in. The property has a super cute hiking/walking trail too. It was such a peaceful stay, we really loved it.

Wow, this place is amazing! Yes it is a 15 minute drive on a dead end road, but when you get there you will be amazed. Very friendly and helpful staff, they made us feel very welcome and always willing to help. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay in a relaxing environment. Thank you Rita for your hospitality and Maria (the cat) for the chats over breakfast.

“We had a great stay. Myself and my Son did a dirt biking with Paulo which I'd highly recommend.”

The property is beautiful and well maintained, quite isolated so very quiet. You can do a nice 1.5km hike around the property vineyards. The multiple houses are very authentic. By car, in 15-20min you can reach Amarante and its restaurants / supermarkets.

Pool was delightful, though was undergoing maintenance on day of arrival (completed by 4pm). Breakfast was ok, though as a vegan options were limited. The host did specifically provide non dairy alternatives though, which was good. Sadly the restaurant was not available due to covid regulations - which was inconvenient for me as the nearest food shop was an hour on the bus and walk. However the staff kindly took me to a supermarket to purchase food and upgraded my room so that i had kitchen facilities. Excellent customer service. I had thought that there would be wine tasting opportunities - but these were not offered to guests nor promoted visibly anywhere.

Excellent stay. Rita was an amazing host and we felt as if we were at home. We will for sure consider returning.

“Memorable stay”

Breakfast room was lovely and there was plenty of choices.... No other meals served but there was a very nice wine that we could , and did, purchase. They have provided a very nice walking trail through their vineyard and if the weather had been better we would have made better use of the pool. The views are amazing.

This place is ideal for some relaxing time listening to the nature and quietness that surrounds the location. The house was pleasant and comfortable and the rusticity of it made it even more beautiful.

Peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of space, good views.
