“Cheap for Switzerland & did the job.”
Old building, so I was surprised it had a lift at all. Smallest lift I've ever been in in 60+ years, though. One person at a time. Good central location.

Close to the bus stop, local restaurants and grocery store. Clean, well looked after, nice bed and complimentary in-room coffee.

Good location in the city center, close to grocery stores, the highway, and Appenzeller attractions. The possibility to park a car on the nearby street for a good price. Good place to stay for 1-2 nights when traveling or visiting Appenzell.

We chose the hotel because of the self check-in system and it was very helpful as we booked spontaneously in the evening. The room was overall fine, a bit more worn off than it looks in the pictures but still had anything we needed. The hotel building is impressive, felt special to stay in such an authentic building. Affordable public parking nearby. Price is great for the location.

“The owner doesn’t bother”
Check in was not working at the terminal… We booked a room for 3 people and when we arrived in the middle of the night, we just got a double room. No alternatives provided by the gentleman on the phone. One person had to sleep on a sofa without any lining. Elevator didn’t work and it was not really clean after all (hair in the bathroom, etc.) It was mentioned in the booking profile, that breakfast is included. We didn’t expect anything spectacular, but actually there was nothing!
