An absolute gem of a B&B set in peaceful rural countryside, with good access to Alnwick

An absolute gem of a B&B. Warm welcome, comfortable room, excellent breakfasts, and lovely host. The Night Owl is set in a beautiful, peaceful, rural area with good links to Alnwick and the A1. Alnwick has plenty to see, particularly the Alnwick Gardens, which you need to book. Add the Poison Garden to your booking for gruesome fascination! Easy travels to the sandy beach at Alnmouth, and to various National Trust places in the area. I particularly recommend Cragside. Beware, Lindisfarne gets very busy and seems commercialised, but the Priory and church were interesting.

A wholesome country stay at the Night Owl

A beautiful stay outside of Alnwick, the Night Owl is set in stunning country fields with animals roaming freely nearby and many birds flocking together.

This B&B was just perfect for our short stay.

A good choice with a written menu which we had in a lovely room looking onto the garden and further to the farmland. The cooked breakfast was excellent and a real treat.

A happy six day stay in sublime countryside with a generous and helpful hostess.

The cooked breakfasts were excellent and the cereals, etc accompanying them included home made bread and fresh berries. There was a disaster on our third night when the water pump stopped but Fiona provided us with bottled water and we managed without a shower for a day! dogs were a delight, and the views (of our old home and the hills beyond) were sublime.

Relaxing, welcoming, can’t wait to come back

We loved the location, the cleanliness and the warm, friendly welcoming host. Me and my partner had the most relaxing two night stay, Fiona went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Ensuring our dietary requirements were met, we were greeted with an afternoon tea. We were on a trip for my partners birthday and Fiona went out of her way to get him a birthday card, we found that so lovely and really appreciated it. We also loved meeting Fiona’s two dogs, they were adorable and so friendly. We can’t wait to visit again.

A perfect stay

We stayed for two nights. I picked this farmhouse because I wanted peace & quiet but close to Alnwick with parking. Fiona, the host greeted us warmly & served us tea and homemade cakes on arrival- delicious 😋 Our room was scrupulously clean, warm, bright and the bed super comfy with white bedlinen. Our room had 3 large windows. We were able to watch the sunrise each morning, whilst still in bed. A lovely start to the day. The breakfasts we had were superb. Local produce, home cooked, and plenty of it. Fiona makes her own preserves too. The marmalade is divine. You certainly won't need any lunch after one of Fiona's breakfasts! We loved eating breakfast whilst looking out at the birds in the garden. We were fortunate to see bullfinches, chaffinches, goldfinches and even a woodpecker! We love a walk in the countryside and the Night Owl is perfect if you want to explore nature. There's nothing I didn't like about our stay at the Night Owl. We are returning later in the year.

It was a great place to stay, not far from places to sight see.

The farm house was lovely. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. There was a lounge to use downstairs if we wanted to use it too. The breakfast was good, with plenty to eat. We were given afternoon tea when we arrived, which was a lovely.

Excellent

We received a warm welcome and served a lovely afternoon tea on our arrival. It felt like a home away from home and very relaxed, the area is so calm and peaceful, only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Alnwick. Our room was really light and airy with beautiful countryside views, a lovely private bathroom and the beds were big and super comfy. Included was breakfast each morning with so much choice. We would highly recommend staying, Fiona is a wonderful host, thank you for having us :-) Rachel & Neil

Truly amazing in every way.

Breakfast were amazing, all freshly cooked to order, homemade bread and marmalade delicious. The afternoon tea on arrival was so fantastic and appreciated after a long drive, no need to try and find somewhere to eat in the evening. Fiona was a truly amazing hostess, nothing to much trouble, and made you feel very welcome in her beautiful home.

Don't miss out on this beautiful place

Fiona the lady that owns it couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, nothing was any trouble at all. The accommodation was beautiful inside and out. Stunning views all around and the house the night owl is so comfy and welcoming, you have your own key so you can come and go as you please... that's after you have one of Fiona fab breakfasts where she provides everything you could want for your breakfast. Our bedroom was a lovely big onsuite room with the biggest comfiest bed and we both had 2 fantastic nights sleep. I can't recommend this accommodation enough, if you want a lovely chill in a beautiful place then this def is for you. We definately will be returning.
