Jose Antonio was a most attentive host. As we were the only guests, he upgraded us to a large suite, which was full of character, and so comfortable that we almost slept past breakfast time. The breakfast was classic toast with olive oil, grated tomato and jamón.

So much atmosphere culture and history, very kind and helpful reception, the breakfast was delightful, we only had a short stay and should have stayed longer to enjoy not only the hotel but also the city and region, we will come back, one stay is not enough.

If you look for a unique accommodation with a lot of history, you couldn’t do better than here. This is one of the very few mediaeval houses in Almaden and used to be the economic centre of the greatest or at least richest firm on the planet. You look at the doors and the shutters and wonder if they are from the 16th or the 14th century. But above all it is very comfortable and the host goes out of his way to make you feel at home. All the sites in town are within an easy walking distance and so what are bars and restaurants. Highly recommended.

We arrived early on our bicycles and were welcomed by Jose Antonio. A fascinating old property renovated with care. Our suite was splendid with lovely places to sit outside. Delicious continental breakfast with yoghurt, fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, ham, tomato/oil , toasts and jams and delicious almond cake.

This place has an unusual atmosphere of mystery, quite groovy. Ancient house. Nice view of the town from the top, pleasant inside yard. We enjoyed the Spanish breakfast they serve and their strong coffee.

“Amazing experience!”

The hotel is in an ancient house, renewed but keeping 100% the flavour of a XVI century noble house. Perfectly located near the mines and close to the village center. Sleeping in the house gives you the sensation of living true history! The facilities are suberb and the owner an expert in Spanish history of the time. Amazing experience! I recommend it 100%

Gorgeous building, manager couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Upgraded as waited 10 mins to get in which wasn't an issue. Lovely breakfast room. Secure covered parking, perfect for the motorbike.

“Just amazing”

This was such an amazing surprise, such a beautiful ancient house full of history. Everything was just marvelous, from the wonderful room, very clean, comfortable and with a beautiful decoration that was thought on every detail. The house is just wonderful and reminds us of the past but with all the commodities of the present. The breakfast is very good with details of the Spanish cuisine like jamon and the tomato sauce for the bread. The highlight of the staying was the owner Jose Antonio, that is a wonderful person with a heart of gold, that will tell you the story of the house in the tour that we makes with us, also was very helpful with all our questions regarding the region. You can sign that it takes pleasure in working with the guests and likes to attend to every detail. It was wonderful to have met such a beautiful person and his also very nice and cheerful wife Ana. This is a place that it’s worth the detour in case you’re passing through the region. My congratulations to Jose Antonio for all his good work.

Absolutely every aspect of this place is amazing. Beautiful building, hosts were so knowledgeable and helpful. Bedroom is divine. Breakfast was very special. Private garage parking for our motorbike. 10 out of 10.

A two night stay in the town of Almaden to visit the mine. Very comfortable room. I was met by the host, Jose Antonio, at appointed time and shown the room, Indeed the host upgraded my room. A lovely building with a great charm very much supported by the host's continuing attention to detail. A light but good breakfast each morning. The host was also able to garage my car for the two days

Wow a little bit of Spanish history yet with all the amenities of today

Staying in one of the oldest buildings of Almadén certainly is an experience, sleeping in a monumental room where history is all around you! If you come by car, drive up the street until the little church at the end and park on the square next to it, only a hundred meter walk to the hotel. And from the hotel it's only a ten minute walk downhill to the worldheritage-mines for a tour; at the same church go right, then left twice and you're there.

we loved our stay here. everything was just great, feom the friendliness of our host, awesome rich breakfast, room design and the building itself.

This was a truly exceptional experience. The owner, José Antonio, went far beyond what is usual to help us, and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel itself is like a museum, with something exciting to see at every turn. José Antonio is the most courtly, polite, and knowledgeable gentleman, with such excellent conversation skills. His breakfast is pretty good, too.🍏🍐🥐🥖☕️🧈🧀 If we're in that area again, we'll definitely re-visit. 🌹
