“A PEACEFUL STAY”

We had enjoyed an amazing stay at Tharas Houseboat , because we loved the traditional look of the Tharas houseboat, living area is more comfortable, especially sunbed is the most relaxing moments gives, the room was nice and clean the crew members were more friendly,they were served delicious food for us , thank you so much for a wonderful stay,we highly recommend this houseboat Tharas houseboat ,thank you the crew members.

“Relaxing 2 nights on the Backwaters”

Great crew. The houseboat is comfortable and very clean. Liked that you could sit on the top or inside on comfortable chairs. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The food was delicious. We had nights and it was a relaxing trip - would do it again

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights on the houseboat. The staff were brilliant and really friendly. The food was excellent and there was a lot of it. Such a relaxing way to spend time taking in the local scenery. We also really enjoyed the bird spotting plus the evening walk discovering the local plants.

This authentic style houseboat has two double rooms but we were the only guests. A very good cook preparing fabulous food for us. What a relaxing way is this to experience the backwaters.

The food was fabulous, the trip was interesting, down smaller canals & larger lakes. The staff were lovely. Luckily we had a great couple of lads also staying on the boat & we had a really good laugh with them.

It’s just beautiful and exactly what you want for an original experience. There are only 2 double bedrooms so unlike other houseboats this felt private and personal. They restore the boat every year and you can tell as it is perfect but with an old world charm. The captain and chef/butler were fantastic. Welcome drinks and fresh tea and coffee. Amazing lunch breakfast, dinner and snacks. Chef is an amazing cook and they made us feel so comfortable. This was exactly what I hoped for when looking for a houseboat and more. 100/100.

“Ideal backwater cruise with the best food”

The food was amazing - 3 of the best meals we had in our 2 weeks in India cooked by Benedict, plus afternoon tea with banana fritters. The bedroom and front deck were very comfortable, with extremely effective aircon in the bedroom, so we elected to remain relaxing on the houseboat rather than take a local boat offering a trip into the smaller channels, but this is an option so take a little extra cash. The experience of cruising the backwaters with the scenery and wildlife was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks of hectic travelling around and we could have happily stayed longer with the captain Jos pointing out local wildlife and flora, if we’d had the time. Communication the night before was sufficient, as google maps and uber get you precisely to their office (AKA Oscar Cruises).

Super helpful sorting out arrival on the dock and amazing food on board courtesy of Shadi. Wish we'd stayed for two nights - tranquil and peaceful and help from our captain to identify birds and (enormous!) fruit bats. Plus great company from our boat shares! Highly recommend.

“Relaxing stay on the backwaters”

Our stay has been wonderful, it was so relaxing to stay on this beautiful boat. Staff was very helpful and friendly! The food served on board was very delicious, and also the rooms were very clean. I particularly enjoyed that we’ve spent the night in a very quiet place far from the other boats. I can only recommend!

Staff amazing, boat was beautiful. Food was lovely. Oscar made sure we wete looked after. The staff went above and beyond getting us a tuc tuc and taxi to Cochin

The boat was lovely & the captain & chef made our stay very enjoyable. The air conditioning was a bonus. Looking out over the tranquil backwaters was lovely, particularly waking up in the peace & quiet in the morning.

We had a wonderful time during our stay cruising through the backwaters was beautiful and peaceful. The chef Benedict made the best food we had eaten on our trip and the staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. The room was very clean and AC, bathroom fully functioning.

“An exceptional, good value for money and relaxing stay”

The staff were incredibly helpful from the minute we booked until we left and nothing was too much trouble. The food particularly was plentiful and extremely tasty. Wish we had booked for two nights rather than one, so if we are back in this part of the world again, we will use his company which is recommended to everybody 

Traditional houseboat with a lovely skipper and staff. Cruising the quieter section of the backwaters was great. Plentiful local food and v good black tea. Helpful staff arranged a pick up at the end do we could get to the train station for onward travel.

“Beautiful boat, lovely people”

Beautiful boat, the design and feel was very luxurious. Really nice to sit at the front end and watch birds, our captain also knew many of the birds! They made wonderful meals. Room and bed were comfortable with fan and AC. We did an extra boat ride in the evening in a small boat for an extra 1500 fee. Put on some mosquito repellent if you choose for this option. Boat was peaceful, no loud music, no tv.
