Unique historical building and fantastic host. The village is beautiful and the breakfast is delicious.

That was a fantastic experience ... We booked just one night on our way to Basque country but Alet-les-Bains and the whole area definitely deserves a longer stay - it has a lot of history, mysteries and charm.... Many thanks to our host Richard - he is a really dedicated and fantastic person who really loves his town and organized the great tour around the city for our family... And the Maison Aleteia is beautiful and very comfortable - nicely decorated, old building from 17th century (but very well kept and renovated) breakfast served in nice dining room - again, many thanks to Richard! Definitely the place to return!

Chatty host who provided lots of local information. Sensibly provided fan on hot evening. Pleasant garden and good location in town with convenient parking close by.

Although we stayed only for one night, we wish we could stay longer. The building and rooms are amazing and wonderfully maintained with antique furniture. The breakfast was very good. Richard is a wonderful host and is very responsive to any needs.

Richard was a perfect host, he took care of every single detail to make us feel welcome and at home. He poured warmth, joy, love and gratitude into making our stay a very special one. The house itself is a beautiful place in a location rich in history and ancient energies. Richard is also a great cook and spoiled us with a delicious dinner with locally sourced products and accommodated our requests for a slight twist for breakfast. The unexpected and appreciated cherry on top was the soul to soul conversation we had on spirituality and the likes. We will surely be back.

It's a historic treasure, a rare gem. Host so welcoming, and house was kept warm in middle of winter. Breakfast was 3 variety of local bakes, and honey sourced locally. Coffee in bowl to have a feel of local culture. Definitely a must to feel the heart of Alet. Thank you, Richard.

“Great time in a great place with great service”

Tucked away in the most charming of streets, the exterior belies the wonderfully authentic interior, with its cooling stone floors and, in our case, the bedroom had heavy, sumptuous wall covering that tied in beautifully with the period furniture. From the moment Richard popped his head out of the kitchen window to greet us, the service was excellent. The breakfast every morning was amazing, with the very freshest of baked goods and a never ending supply of great coffee (we’re very particular about it and it didn’t disappoint). The walled garden was extremely private and easy to relax in after a three hour drive from our previous accommodation and we were pretty well looked after by Richard with a selection of drinks whilst we soaked up some rays. It was important to us that we were able to take our beautiful five month old puppy with us and he was made as welcome as we were (he even had his first holiday romance with one of Richard’s two fur babies). Our room was kept as clean as a clean thing and Horace even got his own bed). Richard ensured that we had great wine to take with us to the prearranged party venue and couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel is steeped in history and the feeling that comes with that is palpable. Can’t wait to go back
