We recently stayed in the Suite at Palacio Matutano-Darden and left thoroughly impressed on every level. Our check-in was delayed due to an issue caused by previous occupants, and upon arrival we found ourselves in a difficult situation; hungry, tired, and faced with poor weather. With only four restaurants in the area, all of which were fully booked, and the hotel restaurant operating at full capacity, the outlook was not promising. However, a gentleman from the reception team demonstrated exactly the kind of attentive, proactive service that sets a property apart. Recognising our situation without us having to ask, he took the initiative to secure us a table in the restaurant. The meal that followed was exceptional. Beautifully prepared, excellent value, and genuinely one of the highlights of our stay. The Suite itself was equally impressive. Sky was amazing showing us to the room which was superbly appointed, luxurious in every detail, and presented to an immaculate standard. We felt welcomed and well cared for throughout. It is often said that the true measure of a hotel lies not in how it performs under ideal conditions, but in how it responds when things don’t go to plan. On that basis, Palacio Matutano-Darden earns the highest praise. The staff handled a difficult situation with grace, warmth, and genuine initiative. We would recommend this property without hesitation. The accommodation is outstanding, and the level of service is second to none.

The location was great, right in the centre of the town. Make sure to get a balcony room as the views are great to sit out at night and watch as the sun sets. My favourite night of my trip so far. And I have never stayed in a hotel with a better reception team. They know the town well and will do anything they can to help you. Team 10 with Nat as Jefa added a great personal touch. Will recommend and hope to return.

“How a great staff member can make your trip”

I stayed at Hotel Albarracin over Xmas 2025, 24-26 December. The town itself was a perfect 10th century pueblo with a multitude of bars and restaurants to enjoy, although not on this trip. It was totally my fault, of course. I forgot that Xmas in Spain is a more dedicated affair. Everyone takes a well-earned break from the daily grind, including all of the local places and my hotel. So I was stuck in my cozy, warm and nicely decorated hotel with no prospect of a dining experience. At this point, I need to introduce you to the hotel staff. Andrea was welcoming and always helpful. I mentioned my predicament to the wonderful Marianna and she had the solution within seconds. I just needed to pop along to the local store, which I just caught in time, and whatever I bought, Marianna would prepare in the hotel kitchen. Incidentally, this hard-working and versatile Marianna, for both nights I stayed, was the sole receptionist, bar person and chef. She did with with good humour and was happy to help in every way. Respect to the hotel for hiring Marianna and to Marianna, for turning a pretty bleak culinary prospect into a different kind of trip. Marianna made may trip a complete pleasure. Thank you so much. Superb location in the old town of Albarracin. Small but well equipped room with great view. Helpful receptionist. E-bike storage and charging in hotel lounge! Excellent breakfast.
