“Disappointing and stressful.”

The apartment we thought we had booked was apparently not available due to a boiler issue. Subsequently heard that the host triple books the seafront property and then says you have to stay in Four Seasons Hotel. After a discussion he placed us at Marine Hotel in a tiny room. He then gave us £20. We then had to move rooms in Marine as door jammed and couldn’t get out!

Due to single Glazing you could hear all the noise of people leaving the pubs talking at 0130 then again at 0430 then the traffic at 0600. I would suggest put secondary glazing especially in the bedroom

Clean, Good location, Good facilities, well presented, comfortable, decent shower.

The apartment I booked wasn’t available and we were offered an alternative which didn’t resemble what we wanted. 15 min drive to a large house was offered for our 2nd night’s stay!! The 1st night’s accommodation was even further away. As dark fell we were offered a bedsit which we had no alternative but to accept, it was despicable, filthy and for a romantic get away it was atrocious.

The hosts were very responsive. I had booked for my mother in law who was first put in an apartment on the 4th floor without a lift as the initial apartment was not available. Then the fire alarm sounded. She struggled to come down the stairs. the hosts contacted me straight away by phone to ask if they could move her to a ground floor apartment. This was very good service. The property was well appointed and conveniently located.

We were moved to a different apartment at Grovenor House with better views, just down the road from where we originally booked. Not a problem for us, but if you'd booked this specifically for it being ground floor due to mobility you'd have been disappointed. Stunning views, well equipped, central location. We would 100% return!

The entire stay could/should have been better. On the day of the booking and on our way there we received a phone call to say they had double booked . They seem to double book all the time if previous reviews are anything to go by. When we arrived the receptionist looked embarrassed when she told us the problem, the manager/owner soon came to the reception, no apology for the double booking (3 nights) but advised us he could put us up in another hotel of his for the 1st night, we had little choice given how far from home we were. The owner has been in the press plenty of times by the looks of it, he was rude, arrogant and frankly the rooms were awful. The receptionist was very polite but the owner kept on talking over her. I would not stay here again and I would advise anyone looking to book here to do their homework first and read the reviews. In short, never again.

Appalling treatment by the owner who refused a refund despite double booking by the venue itself. Bullying shouting, swearing. A genuinely menacing version of Basil Fawlty. Only concerned about money. Ten years later, still at it. Gives Aberystwyth a bad name. Avoid at all costs. Sent to Four Seasons Hotel for the key. Chaos, mayhem and confusion. That was the good news: Mr Davies is not an ethical operator.
